Refugium Smidstrup Strand

The idyllic refuge of Smidstrup Strand is a small retreat centre with room for big ideas. The unique location on the coast of northern Sealand with direct access to the beach makes it a perfect choice for hosting a meeting, course or retreat for groups of 12-22 persons.

The facility has 20 single rooms, two of which are suited for wheelchair access, and two double rooms. All rooms have their separate bathroom and a small private balcony. A number of the rooms also come with an ocean view.

The conference room “The View” contains a projector, flip over, whiteboard and a stereo with radio/tape recorder and CD player. From this room you will have an excellent view of the beach, which can be enjoyed at various times of the day, relaxing in the lounge furniture.

The retreat centre is always only available to one group at a time, ensuring complete privacy for your event. If you are looking to host a course, meeting or retreat with no interruptions, this is the place for you.

We are an intimate conference and retreat centre that offers presence, content, contemplation and silence. Our unique location provides direct access to the beach and sea while surrounded by green nature, allowing you to include them all in your event.

Guests are inspired, engaged, taught and entertained in these fabulous surroundings. Our independent building, "The View", is equipped as a classroom but also provides a cosy space for gathering, with panoramic views of the beach and sea from all angles.

Our guests appreciate the unique light, nature, location, endless sea view, and the possibility to go for long walks along the beach or in the woods.

We provide space for conferences, retreats, and courses. Our adjacent church can be used for meditation, silence, music or devotion.

The Refugium includes the original beach villa "Stenhuset," the "Udsigten" course building, several award-winning modern wooden buildings with bright rooms for 24 people, and a small beautiful wooden church.

Udsigten (The View): a teaching/conference room with AV facilities and seating for 30 people in chairs and 24 at tables. Close by is a place for more informal gatherings in comfortable furniture. Both rooms have a sea view.

Birkestuen (The Birch Room): a meeting room with eight-person space.

There are 22 rooms, and two double suites, while two others are adapted for those with mobility impairments. All rooms are bright and well-appointed, with their entrance from the covered column row. All rooms have a toilet, a bathroom, and a private terrace.

Beach plantation: the possibility of walks through the beautiful hiking systems and direct access to the beach.

Strandkirken (The Beach Church): the Refugium's little wooden church is open to all guests for silence, pursuits, and reflection. Guests/participants are offered a short morning attendance service.

During the summer, there are atmospheric evening services with cosy get-togethers and coffee.
