Courses by the Sea at Refugium Smidstrup Strand - Nature, Silence, and Change

The idyllic Refugium Smidstrup Strand is a small course location with room for big ideas.

With its unique location on the North Zealand coast and direct access to the beach and sea, the retreat is the perfect choice for hosting meetings/courses or retreats for groups of 12 to 22 participants.

For 108 years, Refugium Smidstrup Strand has been a retreat, offering peace for what you came for. Shoulders already drop on the way down to the retreat, and you quickly feel the spirit of the place. The rooms with a view of the sea, the oasis between the rooms, and the small beach church provide the right elements for immersion and focus on your tasks. Booked courses must have a minimum of 12 people – and if you are 18, you have the place to yourselves.

The meetingrooms

• The View: With a view of the sea, there is a conference area for 22 people and a cosy area with sofas where group work can be done or coffee breaks can be held.
• The Birch Room: A smaller meeting room with plenty of space for 10 people. Additionally, there are 2 smaller breakout rooms in the main house for 4-5 people each.
• The Beach Church: The refuge's small wooden church is open to all guests for silence, devotion, and contemplation. During the summer, atmospheric evening services are held with subsequent cosy gatherings and coffee. The church can accommodate up to 50 people and can be used for lectures, worship, and quiet reflection.

Sleep well

Refugium Smidstrup Strand has 22 rooms. 18 single rooms and 4 double rooms. All rooms are bright and well-furnished with their entrance from a covered arcade. All rooms have a toilet, shower, and access to a private small terrace. Beach plantation with the opportunity for walks along beautiful trails and with direct access to the beach.

What to look forward to

Choose between course meals, vegetarian meals with fish, or vegetarian meals for the whole team. Emphasis is placed on making the food light; otherwise, it becomes too heavy for a course. They make an effort to meet needs and expectations. You can, of course, upgrade the menu for an additional charge, such as with meat or 3-course meals.

Special at Refugium

Few staff members accompany you all the way. This ensures that Refugium's guests return repeatedly because the staff know how the guests want it. The staff take pride in making everything work – and all adults on the site are skilled professionals.

Use the surroundings

Sea bathing – all year round: Walk through the natural grounds to the beach. Gilbjergstien to Gilleleje – with the Søren Kirkegaard stone. Yoga, meditation, massage, gospel singing, or wine tasting can be arranged.
