Special Exhibition at Knud Rasmussen House: Who Owns Greenland?
A museum revitalised with depth and story. Knud Rasmussen House in Hundested opens a new season with sensory renewal and thought-provoking storytelling. Visitors are invited to explore a fresh museum experience and a powerful special exhibition about Greenland’s role in international politics.
Special Exhibition – Who Owns Greenland?
The museum sheds light on a historical conflict between Denmark and Norway over East Greenland during the 1920s and ’30s. At the heart of the legal and political drama was Knud Rasmussen himself, whose legacy is explored through archival materials, storyboards, and rare photographs.
This exhibition offers new insights into power dynamics, national identity, and Arctic sovereignty.
Knud Rasmussen’s Life, Retold
Modern elements have been seamlessly integrated into the historic house. Cabinets have been transformed into display cases featuring selected artefacts – including Rasmussen’s hunting rifles and the medals he received for his groundbreaking Arctic expeditions.
A House that Breathes History
Sounds and scenes bring the house to life: the soft clatter of a typewriter, gentle piano music, and the crackling of fireplaces create a vivid sense of presence, as if Rasmussen were still recording his journeys.
