City Walk in Frederiksværk: Explore History and Nature in Halsnæs

Frederiksværk sets the stage for a unique walking tour where history and nature come together. The route takes visitors to iconic locations such as Gjethuset, Krudttårnsbakken, and Norske Bakke while sharing the fascinating stories of the area. With scenic views and cultural heritage, this is an experience for both body and mind.

A Historical Journey in Scenic Surroundings

The journey begins at the Arsenal, with the first stop at Gjethuset – a historic site showcasing 250 years of military and civilian production.

Panoramic Views and Cultural Heritage

The tour continues up Krudttårnsbakken via Sandskåret and its 74 steps, leading to a breathtaking view of Halsnæs and Roskilde Fjord. From here, landmarks like the Steelworks and the Gunpowder Mill are put into perspective.

Norske Bakke and Historic Landmarks

Next, the path leads to Norske Bakke, once home to the workers' bell from the Classen era. From there, the route passes the hospital and follows the canal, offering views of Brohuset and Arresødal Castle before reaching the shores of Arresø – Denmark’s largest lake.

Back Through the Park and Ending at the Arsenal

The return journey winds through the beautiful park, concluding at General Major Classen’s iconic test cannon – a reminder of the area’s industrial past.

  • Dates: May 25th and August 17th at 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM | Buy tickets 
  • Price per Participant: 70 DKK excl. fee
  • Important: The route requires sturdy footwear and a good level of fitness, as there are several hills along the way.
  • The guidance will be in Danish.
