Autumn Holiday at Knud Rasmussen's House

Experience Greenlandic Culture this Autumn Break! Kids can create tupilaks at Knud Rasmussen's House and learn about his fascinating expeditions.

Knud Rasmussen dedicated a significant part of his life to exploring Greenland, collecting legends and myths from the people he encountered during his many lengthy expeditions. These stories have enriched our understanding of Greenlandic culture and folklore.

During the autumn break, children and their families can immerse themselves in the fascinating world of the tupilak. A tupilak is a magical creature that, in ancient Greenland, was secretly created to harm another person, often driven by feelings of envy. Although the tupilak was once considered a dangerous tool in conflicts, it has become a popular and distinctive symbol of Greenlandic culture, often sold as a unique souvenir.

In the autumn break, you are invited to be inspired by the many creative and imaginative depictions of tupilaks and create your version using self-hardening clay. This activity allows you to express your creativity, and you can take your tupilak home as a keepsake of a fun and educational day.

The Tupilak workshop is open every day during the autumn break from 1-3 pm. Entrance and tickets for the workshop can be purchased at the ticket office in Knud Rasmussen's House.
