Backhaus Brown
Backhaus-Brown - Working glass workshop, gallery & shop.
At Hundested Harbour, there are experiences for both young and old. In the raw, authentic harbour environment, restaurants sit side by side, while along the quay, galleries and art workshops offer everything from glass art and exclusive jewelry to paintings and other unique artworks.
If you visit at the right time, you might even see skilled artists in action. Little ones and other playful souls can catch crabs and see live fish at the harbour’s “touch-a-fish” platform or burn off energy at the fun nature playground.
Throughout the summer, various events take place, including the unique cultural attraction, Hundested Sand Sculpture Park, where talented sand sculptors create stunning artworks from golden grains of sand.

Kajgade at Hundested Harbour is a lively and charming shopping street where you’ll find local design shops, working workshops, and specialty stores. Explore everything from eyewear and fashion to artisan crafts and specialty coffee.
The street also serves as the entrance to Hundested Sand Sculpture Park, where you can admire impressive sand sculptures and take a break at the café with lunch or a good cup of coffee. Here, you’ll also find a wide selection of souvenirs, as well as brochures and maps of Halsnæs and the rest of North Zealand.
Just a stone’s throw from Kajgade, right by the water’s edge on the old slipway, you’ll find the glass studio Backhaus Brown and the goldsmith Bendix Copenhagen side by side. Here, you can experience beautiful unique glass designs and Danish-designed jewelry crafted from precious metals, diamonds, and cultured pearls.
At the entrance to Hundested Sand Sculpture Park, you’ll find Galleri Syveren, an inspiring artist collective showcasing contemporary art from both local and international artists. Explore paintings, ceramics, wood art, and metalwork in a dynamic creative space. In the same area, Morph Design blends Scandinavian design with creativity and functionality—offering unique furniture, interiors, and handcrafted art for discovery.
Between the town and the harbor lies Galleri Sunde, where you can experience unique paintings and fascinating stoneware sculptures.
Hundested Harbour offers several great dining spots where you can enjoy freshly prepared food in a maritime setting.
At Halsnæs Bryghus, you’ll find an honest and simple kitchen inspired by beer, featuring fish and local ingredients. In addition to great food, the brewery offers a varied program with live music, barbecue events, comedy shows, beer tastings, and other exciting events.
At Restaurant Havfruen, you can enjoy the view from the sun terrace while treating yourself to a delicious meal. Try the popular seafood platter or a classic "stjerneskud." The view of the harbor basin can be enjoyed in any weather, as the restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating—both upstairs and downstairs.
The cosy Spisehuset Knud serves bistro classics with a maritime twist. The menu is inspired by the sea, featuring oysters, lobster, blue mussels, and butter-fried flatfish, but also offers juicy steaks, fresh greens, and roasted poultry.
Also, try Brasserie Kyst, where you can enjoy Danish-French-inspired dishes focusing on local ingredients—perfect for both a relaxed lunch and an elegant dinner.
If you're visiting with children, there are plenty of fun experiences at Hundested Harbour. The interactive platform "Klap en Fisk" is open from April to October and features two large touch pools with fresh flatfish and crabs that little ones can gently touch.
Afterward, kids can play on the small nature playground, or you can take a trip away from the harbor to Tothaven, where they can meet the farm animals and taste homemade ice cream and cheese from the small dairy.
